China Fleet SailorBattle of Midway; June 4-7, 1942
I've gotten an earfull from local talk radio about the anniversary of Normandy over the last few days. Not to take anything away from those guys, but if you're into remembering things WWII, there was a turning point in the Pacific that the USN wrested from the Japanese at no small sacrifice two years earlier.
Overall, an overwhelming victory for the USN. Still, the loss of the Yorktown, sunk by a masterfully crafted attack by the I-168, stung. It was the final act of the battle.
Here's her final resting place.
She still looks like a lady after all these years, doesn't she?
