Zip-lock for parts?
Hello everyone,
Just a quick question. Is there any reason why storing steel parts (SKS & AK bolts) in sealed, plastic zip-lock bags, would be a bad idea? I wouldn't think so but just had to check.

Here is what I recommend.

Treat them liberally with a good rust preventative. I use Break Free, or RIG.

Then wrap in heavy duty aluminium foil.

Then store in a heavy duty zip lock, or two, or in one of those vacume food sealers.

Then put them in a 30 cal or 50 cal ammo can.

I've been storing actions, bolts, and parts in freezer bags in different sizes for years. Have two large plastic tubs full of stuff. Same for rifle and pistol cases. Use permanent marker to identify whats in the bag. Cheap and doesn't take up a lot of room. Frank

That's a good idea. I've been storing my recievers, bottom metal, & barrels in ATF. I think I'll use the zip lock bags for everything except the barrels now. I keep them immersed in sections of pvc pipe.
