C.WathenHelp I.D. this Mauser
I need some help from the Mauser experts here to I.D. the country of orgin of this Mauser. The numbers on the barrel and the reciever don't match so I'm thinking it is a mis-match of 2 different countrys.
Left side of the reciever. Text: (top line) P(with a circle around it) 22(very close together, kinda looks like a swastika) ESPINGARDA PORTUGUEZA MOD. 1904
(bottom line) DEUTSCHE WAFFEN-UND MUNITIONSFABRIKEN BERLIN
Right side of the reciever: B647
End of barrel: (top) Germany 8mm
(bottom) C.A.I ST AIR(possibly ALR) VT
Bolt: B647
Safety on the end of bolt: 47
Emblem on the reciever: Crown over a C with an I inside it.
Other markings:
Under top peice of wood covering the barrel just in front of the reciever, marking is on the barrel: J214
Above magazine floor plate: 647
Magazine floor plate: 47
Stock(behind the sling swivel): B647
I will gladly add any other pictures if needed. Also I would like to know if it is worth anything. I own 2 other Mausers( 1 german, 1 yugo) this is the only one I can I.D. Thank you all in advance.

C.WathenAny of you guys know if it is rare or collectable? Should I shoot it or just put it in the safe and use it as a excuse to buy another mauser? I really need a good excuse cuz my mom has been saying that we have enuff guns and don't need no more right now. Am I going to hear the same thing when I get older and married?
Always, ALWAYS, go with option 2 Cory. It is the man's way!

Matt NormanI have the twin to yours. If it were the original 6.5 Portugese caliber you'd have a collector (as they are very scarce). But like mine and most others, they've been converted to 8x57. I shoot mine regularly and enjoy doing so.
I'd suggest you A) shoot it! and B) buy more guns!

Not if you can find a gal who likes guns and shooting! Try to find one if you can! They're damn rare!!

craigsterCory,
There's no such thing as too many guns or too much ammo.
