What 9mm guns did the U.S. have during WW-2 ?
We must have had something because I have some win mil-surp ammo, headstamp WW 43 6 .

Off of the top of my head I'd say it was made for Brit Stens, Brownings, or other allied countries arms.

I dont think we (amercians) had any 9mm weapons, but the british sten used 9mm.

I'm betting it was produced for the allies. A lot of that ammo got air dropped to F*@#$! with Sten guns to support the resistance.

The M3 was designed to be able to use a 9mm barrel as well but the 9mm barrel was never issued. Nearly every ally as well as enemy used at least some 9mm pistols, notably Canada and England, the HiPower (Browning M1935) as well as submachine guns (Sten, AuSten, Lancaster, etc.)

I'd go along with Hobie on this one too. The 9's were created originally because of the capture of an Italian freighter full of 9mm ammo and we all know how cheap the Brits can be.lol Unlike us Scots who are merely frugal. derf

Sorry derf,the 9mm Luger{9x19 Parabellum}was introduced in 1902 by the Germans with the Lugar pistol.
England aquired her first submachine guns in
9x19 parabellum at the end of WW1.They were Bergmann Model 18s that were issued to the German army in the summer of 1918.
The Bergmann Model 18 was superceded by the Bergmann MP 28.The Lancaster is nothing more than the Bergmann MP 28 manufactured in Lancaster,England.
Marlin produced a 9mm subgun during WW2 that was designed by Hyde.I believe it was called
UNITED DEFENSE MODEL.Several thousand were air dropped to resistance fighters in Europe.Some were issued to defense plant guards,but I don't believe any were issued to the U.S.armed forces.
Probably a lot of the 9mm Parabellum ammo
produced in the U.S. during WW2 went to Australia
and China.
Both the STEN and AUSTEN{Australian Sten}were
designed after the start of WW2.

Sorry Guys. There was an adapter kit (bbl, bolt, mag) for the M3 grease gun. They did actually exist. Have seen them.
