EdmondCarabine mitrailleuse MAS 48 derived from the MAS 48 SMG
Length 860 mm
with folded stock 630 mm
Barrel length 400 mm
Weight empty 4.500 kg
32 rounds
750 rpm
selective trigger, like the AUG 77 but 30 years earlier.
here is the ammunition 7,65 x 35 mm modèle 48
Here is one of the competitors in .30 US Carbine, the AME, carabine mitrailleuse developed by Ateliers Mecaniques de Mulhouse
it existed in 30 Carbine, 7,92 kurtz and 7,65mm
adopted in 1948 but adoption cancelled because France was engaged in Indochina and was the second largest contributor to NATO. The financial burden was high, France developing new armament for all forces and the country still had to be rebuilt.
