CMP M-1 carbines??

foxhoundCMP M-1 carbines??
Does anyone know if there is ANY chance of all those Korean carbines making their way back here? I keep hoping against hope, I didn't have the cash when they had them, and now the prices are getting absurd for the remaining few. I was figuring the only way I have a chance of picking up a half decent shooter was for them to reimport a pile of them. Any info or opinions would be appreciated.
thanks

LionHunterApparently these M1 rifles and M1 carbines were approved for importation before they were denied importation. I've heard that there is some sort of legal action that has been commenced to allow the entry of these weapons, which the U.S. taxpayers originally paid for. I believe NRA is involved.
They will not go to CMP as they were "given" to Korea rather than loaned to them. Korea wants to sell them to an importer(s) who will then distribute/sell them. I expect a good majority of these to be in poor condition due to excessive use and poor maintenance and storage conditions. That's my best guess.
P.S. They won't be cheap.

SamFrom what I've read o different sights. There are two batches. Batch one is the Garands that were lent to the Koreans, CMP determined they were not worth the cost of shiping to return. Broken wood and rust. Batch two is the Garands the Korean Government bought. They are not eligible for CMP because they are property of the Korean Government. The Obama Administration has blocked the commercial return of these. If or when they come back they will be in th $1K range. One of the things that the Koreans have done is sorted these groups to put the trash in batch one. Since neither the US or Korea have serial number records and the Korean purchase was USGI not commercial there is no way to prove what should be in the CMP returns.
A bad day at the range is better than a good day at work.

SamI think the NRA is involved in the suit to get them reimported but I'm not sure how much involvement they have.

N E 450 No2Until the 30 cal Carbines become available, get a M1 Garand and a few thousand rounds of 30/06 in 8 round clips...
IF I was President, EVERY law abiding US Citizen, over 21, would be issued, upon request, a M1 Garand and 3000 rounds of ammo...

Any chance of upgrading to a M-14??

N E 450,
Only issue I have with your suggestion is the amount of ammo you suggest. I would double that amount and give more if desired later on. No such thing as extra ammo.

N E 450 No2Seeing as how I was the President, I was saving some ammo for myself.

I figured 3000 rounds would last until you started your re-election campaign.

LionHunterATF classification of the M-14 is as a MACHINE GUN, and their position is - once a machine gun, always a machine gun. Hence no government M-14s will EVER be released to the taxpayers who paid for them.

LionHunterSpeaking of which, please everyone, email your Senators asking them to oppose the Obama appointment for a new Director of BATFE. He is a gun hater and has been SSAC of the Chicago office. Bad dude.
