Which province to bow hunt black bear?
Gonna plan a 18' black bear hunt. Archery. Which province would be your pick and why? And of course a reputable outfitter!
Hunted Manitoba a few times, and had success. Just want to go and hunt other parts of Canada.
I have talked with Bear Paw Outfitters in Sask. Has anyone hunted with Grizzly Mountain in Alberta?
Thanks for your replies, Mike.

Switch it up, Spot and stalk or hounds I will bet you have a whole lot more fun then you could imagine.

Try BC you won't regret it. More beautiful by a long shot.

No one has much of an opinion since you want an 18' black bear! That's BIG!

I've always hunted Black Bear in BC. They don't allow baiting, so it's spot and stalk in mountainous logging country. Might be tough with a bow, but I don't like stand hunting over bait. You can take 2 Bear as well.

Biebs you are in some of the best Black Bear country in NA. I quit coon hunting over there because my dogs would just trash on bear all night long.
Does NJ have a regular permanent season now?

Never understood it myself. Anything but ovdr bait. I guess I don't have the patience. I like a lot more action on a hunt.
To each their own.

I hunted with Jeff Smith at Bear Paw Lodge this spring. Kutawagan.com is the website. The lodging is first class. Absolutely excellent food. Saw a number of bears and killed one on second day. I live in Missouri and you can private email me and I will be glad to tell you how professional this outfit is and how good the hunting is.

Doug isn't leading you astray, BC is what you need to try. Fully 1/3rd of Canada's black bears live in just BC. The views and experience are worth doing even completely aside from the hunting.

Doug is a true bear specialist and very reasonable to boot, you'll come home with an experience that more than justifies the BC rates. To go experience a lot isn't actually going to cost you a ton, BC black bear is pretty darn reasonable compared to everything else. You wouldn't regret it, and if you want something different, BC is it.

These are on the coast, and BC in general doesn't disappoint.

Mike's Outfitting in Northern Alberta.

I hunted there last year, and am hunting there the next two years as well.

He caters to bowhunters and they shoot BIG black bear and quite a few color phase ones.

I have no affiliation other than being a very happy repeat client.

Northern Alberta has some great bears. Tyler Mcmohan is a good outfitter. Check out his facebook page and you can see. Think he is under Sherwood outfitters.
