ThomasWhitetail Success
Shot a nice Whitetail this year in southern Alberta. I killed him about 5 minutes from home. He was a nice surprise as I was stalking a doe in some high grass when he made his apperance. The shot was a little on the long side. The endless hours at the range paid off and I hit him perfectly quartering away through his offside shoulder. I'm shooting a rifle that I built myself on a Remington 700, Montana barrel and Macmillan stock. It's chambered in 7.62 X 51 Nato and pushes a 165 Gr. Accubond at about 2850Fps.

A. FlemingWhat a loser. He obviously poached it out of season, and put a hat and woolies on to make it look like it's not summer.Good job on scraping off the velvet though, looks clean. Long side of the bumper maybe. Hey, is that a high fence in the background? Five minutes from home cause you bought him at a game auction and had him tied up in the back yard. It just takes your lazy-ass 5 minutes to walk that far.
Uhhhhh...darn taret's syndrom.....
For real that was a hell of a shot, and a great deer for our part of the world. We'll top it next season with your mulie and my ram though...
Now for some yodel puppies....hehehe.

308SakoThomas that's a fine buck and a favorite cartridge. Well done.
What powder do you use to generate that level of velocity?

Thomas308Sako: I'm shooting a max load of Varget. The velocity really comes from the 27" tube!!
Omega: WOW that is a dandy ram. What part of the province did you take him?
Since you can't shoot a sheep next year, you might as well take me along
