calgarychef1off to 410
Well I've changed my date to go scouting. Was going to go last weekend but it didn't work out. Now I'm going the long weekend (this weekend) to area 410....hopiong to find dome sheeps and my buddy wants to find elk. We should make a great team. Believe it or not I think my pack will weigh no more than 30-35 lbs I've been trimming weight ruthlessly although this fall it will be heavier with my cold weather gear.
oOhhh boy I can't wait

Frans DiepstratenGood luck, chef. I hiked the fringes of that area a bit the last weeks, and I've peeked into some great valleys! Have fun, take pictures!

Grizzly AdamsHello;
I wouldn't lighten your pack by leaving the canteen at home. There are lots of areas in there, where water is hard to find.

calgarychef1Well I'm back.........you were right about lack of water. We were lucky and camped in an area with lots of it, but up higher it was predictably dry. We saw lots of sign, well worn trails, fresh tracks etc. but no animals other than a bear and a mulie. It was a tough pack in and one guy had to return early as his lungs just weren't doing their job, the other guy and I made it in and out all right. I'm actually pleased with myself and my condition--for a chef!!! I'm not sure if I'll hunt that area this fall or not but if I do I think I've found an easy way in and out.
Franz it's too bad you had other commitments it would have been nice to have you along....maybe next time.
