nightwalker ukArctic Shield Gloves
Are arctic shield gloves really as good as they look? Does this REtain system work
What are you folks using in real cold weather? We on't get the fall in temperatures in the UK, but we do get rain and wind - windchill can be a problem! Some suggestions would be gladly received....
Nightwalker.
I was out in Alberta last November and on the quadbikes the windchill took the temp down to -40.
EXPRESS certainly was not as warm as he would have wanted in the arctic shield glove system - but he is a trifle warmblooded!

For UK usage you will find them more than warm enough - the option of haveing warm hands and being able to wriggle out of the glove makes trigger control very easy.

calgarychef1want some warm gloves?? find some canadian army surplus mitts with the big gauntlets and the canvas lined quilted liners. I never wear gloves if I want warm hands --wear mitts you'll have better circulation and can toss in a hand warmer in each mitt.

tikka300No such thing as warm gloves when it's -40. Only mitts will can keep your hands warm in the extreme temperatures if you are not doing any activity.

Did I mention that I wore ex mil goretex overmits with a set of thermal split palm mittens? Toasty warm hands - whenever.
I always use a loop of line around the wrist as a glove keeper - lets you shrug off the outer and shoot - without the job of looking for your mit in the snow! Mother was right you know!

Keep well

nightwalker ukThanks for the input, got a pair of Arctic Shield gloves off ebay, seem pretty good, nice idea with the thin inner glove, feels great for stalking...don't know how tough they will be...
