Any rumours on anything happening with griz in Alberta? Heard their numbers are coming up. Season going to open?

Definitely not in 2015 and nothing on the horizon but we all have our fingers crossed.

Also, seems that there were more griz encounters than usual. But that may be just because they were publicized more? But 9? in one yard?

A lot of your bears are ours as well, so you've got to think that increased livestock kills and human bear problems are happening on your side of the border as well. Comment?

Yes especially during archery elk season. A few deaths have also been incurred to campers within the last few years. Shooting a gun in some areas is like ringing the dinner bell.

I think most people that spend a lot of time in the back country would agree that grizz sightings are way up!

Well, if a hunt happens I hope they would let an ex-Albertan with a 9 priority have a chance at them.

Hey, hey, hey, I'm getting feedback from Albertan's that the griz hunt may not be just a rumour!!!!!

I don't think there is any doubt that the grizzly population in AB is growing. The population of people has grown a pile in the last couple decades. More people and more bears.... more problems.

I hope the grizzly draw returns for you that live there.......... those who no longer live there........ in your dreams. LOL

I have a bad feeling that our new NDP gov't will be ensuring that the Grizzly season never again, ever opens in Alberta.

They kept our draw points till a couple of years ago on the draw system. I kept a screen shot of mine at Priority 9 plus I keep they last copy they mailed out with our priority points in the hopes that one day they reopen it and I can get mine back.

I read somewhere that it was going to be a lottery like bison and goat but I have a hard time believing this will happen at all with the new government in place but who knows. Last I heard they didn't even have the 2015 reg changes signed off on yet and there was no mention of it there unless it was a last-minute addition. It would be exciting to see the season back but I'm not holding my breath.

I believe the NDP will be too busy trashing the AB oil industry(economy), to worry about hunting.

But if by some miracle, the destruction they do to our economy, doesn't get them tossed, then you know there cannot be anything positive happening regarding hunting laws.

Those idiots could shutdown the spring black bear hunt. Nothing would shock me,

Hey, when you've got three losers, gotta go with the best of the worst. Wink Didn't vote NDP, but I think that's the rationale. Now, we've just got to see how true to their ideology these guys play.

I voted Wild Rose Party. I don't know that they are a viable option, but the other 3 literally stink!!

The Conservatives shot themselves in the head basically; only an idiot would vote NDP or LIE-beral...

I talked to a bunch of people that didn't vote at all. Whatya gonna do!?

Only 55% voter turnout, which I think is pathetic, yet I'm told it's a record turnout for Alberta voters.

Sad situation here.

The only real hope is that the NDP gut the Alberta economy, so they get voted out next time around.

Like I want them to do us so bad, that people wake up, and that they never ever get in again, and hopefully we survive the carnage.

Big Wonderful Wyoming
I was blown away by how big the oil patch was from Red Deer all the way up to where I crossed into BC headed to the ALCAN.

Good for Alberta to have that boom after so many years of bust.

You do realize that Canada has the third largest oil reserves in the world behind Venezuela and Saudi Arabia. The majority of that is in Alberta. FWIW US is ranked 14th.

If you have that much to fight for, then you should be fighting. The sentiment that modern day ordinary Canadians do not need firearms for protection is pleasant but unrealistic. To discourage responsible deserving Canadians from possessing firearms for lawful self-defence and other legitimate purposes is to risk sacrificing them at the altar of political correctness."

Once a season is closed, it is always very difficult to get it reopened it seems. With grizzly even more so. Alberta has grown big time with the oil business and now Calgary and Edmonton are "big cities". With that comes Left Wing Lib mentality. That makes this sort of thing more difficult for the wildlife branch.

Politics...........................

I'm not holding out much hope with an NDP government in charge but who knows.....we definitely need a season in some WMUs. Nice to see Montana getting theirs back!
