Just wondering if anyone from around here has gotten back from a summer moose hunting trip with some pics. I have quite a few buddies that went up and got moose but so far no pics.

malcolmGidday Schmaus, I don't have any pics of moose from your area but I do have a heap of holiday shots. My wife and I just spent 3 weeks with her relations. They are all from Quesnel, just south of you. The relatives did take us to some spectacular areas. We called in at Comet Creek Resort. He had many photos of successful hunters from the area, including grizzly, black bear and cariboo.
I couldn't believe the amount of "beetle kill" pine.

schmausYeah its starting to look pretty red around here. Luckily most of the area north of Prince George is spruce and balsam so it is still looking good.

SkylineI haven't hunted moose in BC since I moved out of the province a number of years back, but I sure would like to go back one of these days. Hunted moose in BC for 30 years and did a fair amount of hunting just NW of you in the Fraser Lake area with my Dad when I was a kid.
I was just out to Fraser Lake in the spring to visit my grandfather and was surprised at how bad the beetle kill is up there to. It has been terrible in the Cariboo and Chilcotin for years.

schmausYeah I think the Chilcotin is where it all started and it went through to fraser lake something fierce. Everything west of Prince George has been hit very hard.

SkylineYa there were beetle problems in the Chilcotin back when I started hunting there in the early 80's. They had local mills to process the beetle kill, then they closed those down due to costs and started trucking all the way to Quesnel or Willies Puddle and spread beetles all the way from the logging blocks to the main centers, which helped spread it. Same in the Clinton/100 Mile House country, etc.
It is out of control now and just has to run its course I am afraid.
When we drove through Jasper we saw a couple beetle kills on the west side of the park and lots more in the Mt. Robson country. Alberta is getting it now and it will spread all up and down the eastern slopes.
Sad.

octaveWell my kid brother and his friend still go hunting every fall in the Hazelton Kispox area.
short and fat and hard to get at, hit like a hammer and never been hit back.

boilerroomI just returned from my Northern BC horse back hunt.
My father took a nice meat bull. I passed on a 60" because I was more focused on elk and it was a bit early yet.
I'll post a couple of pics in a bit. Still unpacking.
