Hi all,

I have a buddy from Europe who is going to be working in Canada next year. He normally shoots a 9.3x62 and wanted to know about the availibility of ammunition and reloading components in Canada.

Since I'm in the US I don't know about how difficult it is to order ammo and components in Canada from the American companies I use.

Also any help with laws and things about a foreign in Canada buying ammunition and things would be great!

I brought my 9.3x62 from Europe. Ammo.. I wonder if I really ever checked. Reloading components.. I could buy a dies set easily, and have no real problem finding bullets. For some things you will have to be patient or order in the US. E.g, I wanted the new Barnes TSX, well, I have to wait until the next shipment from Barnes to the store, which, at the time of asking was some 6 months away.

Martini and Hagn in BC regularly have stock for the 9.3's, as do European Guns (if I remember the name correctly) in Vancouver. Components aren't that tough to come by, here in Alberta at least. - dan

Maybe people are catching on.

One of my best friends and hunting partners works part time at European Arms, they have the Sellier& Bellot ammo in 9.3x62; I tried this stuff in my pristine Wm. Ozchatz Model B Mauser from 1927 and it shot sub moa, even with the almost 80 yr. old scope. But, I hear the brass is not too great for reloading....

Italian has only two boxes of 9.3x62 in RWS at about $95.00 plus tax per box, they had some Norma, but, I cleaned them out in Sept. and Joe tells me that it will be months before anymore shows up. Shane at Reliable called the wholesaler for me and they have no 9.3x62 in Norma and don't know when they will get any.

This is typical, it took almost a year for Italian and Reliable to get my RWS stash for my Merkel drilling in 9.3x74. It's NOT their fault, the wholesalers seldom seem to carry this ammo, due to low demand. After all, the WSMs are "better" cartridges, right.....barf!

I am just going to form a bunch of Winchester .30-06 brass into 9.3x62 for my custom Brno 21H, when I finally get Bill Leeper to build it; this works according to
Alf and Ken Waters, this is good enough for me.

I can't think of a more truely useful cartridge than the old 9.3x62, I am really eager to get a working one as my classic Mauser is too fine to backpack hunt with.

Just a note that most US dealers won't ship firearms related supplies to Canada because the US now requires export permits for everything. If you need something from the US it is best to order it through a Canadian dealer who already has the US export procedures in place.
