bear hunt?
Where can I find a "pretty much guaranteed" bear hunt near an international airport in Canada? I don't want to drive more than 2 or three hours or so. I will be flying from Texas. It will be my first and only bear hunt, so I'm not interested in a huge trophy, just a decent rug.It would be best for me to hunt the first of june. thanks, capt david

"It's not how hard you hit 'em, it's where you hit 'em." The 30-06 will, with the right bullet, successfully take any game animal in North America up to 300yds. Get closer!

I can do that, ....fly to Yellowknife, and we can start hunting 4 miles down the road! First of June they're just coming out and the hides are perfect! 2 years ago one of my hunters was back in town with his bear in an hour and he's still talking about it! Most will run at least 6-7' with absolutely prime hide. Drop me a P.M.

I have no problem with a bait hunt, but for myself preferred a spot and stalk. This guide's area is just north of vancouver. I took 2 bears in four days - the 1st one 2 hrs after arriving in camp. Plenty of bears to choose from, but I was picky after taking a big boar on the first day. Nice, big coastal bears.

Any Spring bear hunt in BC is "virtually Guarranteed"

Fly into Vancover and go with Big Boar outfitters in Pemberton (2 hours drive) or go take a ferry to Van Island and drive a bit more.

Van Isle brar outfitters tend to be more expensive than anywhere in Canada, due to Jim Shockey@ Smiler

YOu can also fly into Vancouver and then transfer to Williams Lake and get picked up, drive a few hours and be with Niut Outfitters in the Cariboo. They are close to the mid northern coast, so good bears there, too.

I went Yellowknife route. Worth the travel time. Nice people and bears were there.
