This is inside the front cover of "The Beaver" of September 1934, the magazine of the Hudson's Bay Company. I dunno about you, but this news would make me sleep better at night ...

Different times to be sure.

I have been to several of the old fur trading posts in the Arctic that were run by the Hudson's Bay Company, a couple of which are long defunct and many miles from the nearest road. Very interesting history on how they interacted with the local Dene and Inuit.

Tough people back then hauling supplies by boat in the summer and cat trains in the winter in very remote country.
