Watson Lake..
it s only for 7-14, 7-15 and 7-16
http://www.gov.yk.ca/news/12-007.htmland why : too much hunting pressure on that specific area ... but it s the same on other areas like the Richardsons ...
may be interesting to see how many full curls in the field didnt pass the test at the Env. Office .....
all the best.

jhaneyThe Richardson's? What hunting pressure. I don't think there has been more than ONE license hunter there a year in the last five, and don't know of the harvest, but certainly under five. There is between 750 and 1500 sheep, depending upon the weather at survey time and who you believe. Either way that population can easily handle what ever harvest that the extreme logistics and economics would allow without limiting permits. Maybe I am not understanding your point.

Watson LakeWe lived up there recently. Never hunted the Richardsons and I am certain never hunted by First Nations either. Now cow caribou is another discussion..
As for the zone 7 I was generalizing about areas. There are some already on Limited Entry. My point is if full curl is required, why put areas on quota? Just another reason for game branch to reduce hunting opportunity for residents.
Lets put outfitters on quota, for sheep, moose, etc. Also the number of argos outfitters are allowed to use..per square mile of territory?
Lets put them on quota too...
If one uses a motorcycle to access alpine is that an ATV too????
Watson Lk..

medvedJim and Watson Lake,
we re on the same way and im one of those that want a real quota for outfitters ...
and im pretty sure the Richardsons 2 permits is coming from Outfitter pression (and NWT too) ... but the logistic is of course a good point ...
now back on the Kusawa area it may be for some a limitation of hunting for residents and for some others just a limitation of the pressure and it may be very interesting to see how many full curls didnt make the full curl test. and not only for the 7 ...
but there is still around whitehorse some open areas ... and we just need to hike a little ...
i will ask the questions and if i got an answer will let you know ...
and on the ATVs side that is right that we ll suffer soon a very heavy attack from some hunters and antis and i wish you replied the survey from YFGA ... up to yesterday only 25 replies .....
