OzultraHunting the Yukon
Can a non-resident hunt the Yukon without a guide? Can a non-resident buy over the counter tags in the Yukon? Is there so called "public land" to hunt in the Yukon, or is it all privately leased? I have often wondered if a "do it yourself dropped off" style hunt would be possible in the yukon for a non-resident.

CoyoteKiller82Non-resident aliens, as in not a Canadian citizen, can not buy OTC tags. They must hunt with a guide. Non-resident Canadians, as in the person lives in another province or territory, must hunt with a hunter host and can buy tags OTC. Hope this helps!

sheephunterabBut only for certain species can you be hunter hosted. Sheep, goats, bison, elk and mule deer can not be hunter hosted and grizzly may be hunter hosted only in select areas. Also, a limited number of hunter host permit are given out annually.

I believe most provinces only allow non-resident aliens to hunt with a guide. You'd have to check with each province individually. But I'd venture a guess that all provinces/territories only allow guided hunts for non-Canadians, and I'd assume that guess would be fairly accurate!

LittleJoeMost amazing place. I would hunt there every year if possible. Some of my best memories come from the YT.

No such thing as tags for Canada, all hunting is controlled the provinces/territories separately, and rules differ per species, and per province.
