How did we do on the draws?
I cashed in on some priorities and got a ewe tag, and a whitetail doe tag. Decided against a buck antelope tag, and should be "guaranteed" a tag next year, with priority 8. Waiting for the mountain goat draw! This could be the year!

How did y'all do?

Frans

I didn't even put in for that one this year, I don't think I could put together the time and the gear required. Plus the few friendly folks that would have to help draggin' it out. So it wasn't me screwing up your odds!

WL.......I am in the same boat. This will be year 7 I have applied for pronghorn and I find out it is still not a sure thing in the zone we applied for.......8 is a sure thing.

Will wait and see, only a couple of weeks now and we will know. At least I drew a moose/elk landowner tag at home.

Myself and my wife did pretty good this year on draws!!

I drew 410 sheep and a bull elk in the mountains. I also drew a cow elk tag for 212 and a couple doe tags.

My wife drew 438C Cadomin sheep, and a prarie WMU 108 bull elk tag.

Dad drew a good mountain moose hunt on a P9 this year.

Should be a great fall overall!!!!

Probably not!!

I'll be sharing around some meat for sure. Dad will take half of the moose at the most.

I somehow dont think we'll fill ALL of our tags, especially my bull elk tag or the doe/cow tags. Depends how things are going but the main concentration will be my wife's elk and then 2 sheep tags and that moose. I dont think I'll go hungry this fall!

Well the results are out and we actually drew trophy antelope in 806, which are the zones just south of The Hat.

So with the antelope and my landowner moose/elk draw here at home, I can't complain.

It will be my last time hunting speed goats in Alberta. Seven years of applying is too long. Montana is just as close and most of the time it only takes a couple of years to draw.

Skyline I've been told by someone "in the know" that the opportunity for non-res aliens hunting for antleope is closing in Montana . So hunt them while you can.

Well I'm sure glad I didn't put in for any draws this year as I won't be around to hunt much. I'm goint to try for an undersubscribed moose tag in one of the northern areas. If that doesn't pan out I guess I'm still comitted to accompany my buddy on our big fly in adventure....more details to come! If I don't get the moose tag I'll be chasing bears while buddy is chasing bullwinkle.

That is not right. I live in Montana and I have never heard of any proposal to limit a non-res aliens right to hunt. I follow all fish and game hunting news. If proposed, I oppose. I am all for Canadians hunting in Montana and I enjoy meeting them hunting. I have had several good hunting trips in Canada and want them to enjoy hunting here with no hassle.

I have no desire to hunt in the USA and am concerned with the non-res. alien hunting situation here in BC. However, I will flatly state that your attitude will do more to keep guys like me supporting hunters from the USA having access to BC game than anything else ever will and bugger the income to our government from the outfitters and rich dudes.

Guys like you are most welcome to hunt here in Canada, too! Cheers!

Pard.......indeed. I have hunted in Montana before and always found the people to be great. My wife and i have always said that if we were ever going to move to the US, Montana is where we would go. Smiler

We get a lot of US hunters coming up to hunt waterfowl where I live in SW Manitoba and they are always welcome. The farmers are crying right now because the economy has really cut down on the number of US hunters that can afford to drive up here..........the birds are thick and just hammering the fields in the spring and fall.
