OldsargeWill the Conservatives Pull the Plug?
Given the scandel rocking the current Liberal government, how soon can Canada expect to see the silly National Registration for rifles headed down the drain?

Frans DiepstratenGood question, Oldsarge. My guess is... not anytime soon. I guess the Torries are waiting for the peak of public outrage to "pull the plug". Even then it will be a very tough election. The "outrage" doesn't seem to get as big as it should to overturn the electoral balance. Of course I'm in the West, it would be much more interesting how people react in Ottawa or Toronto. It's definitely not the talk of the day at our office. Which in itself it flippin' amazing looking at what has been going on.

Grizzly AdamsHello;
I gather this scandal is a lot bigger topic in Quebec, than it is out here.Liberal support has evaporated. The scary part is that they can still garner 28% public support in the polls. As I heard a guy ask on the radio today, do these guys have to kill children before some people get to dislike them? Then they have the nerve to say what a wonderful job Paul Martin is doing and the real issue is the Conservatives hidden agenda. I just gotta ask myself, where is this country headed, or is it too late to do anything about it.

The Conservatives are now all professional polititions and subject to their bosses orders just like the Lieberals. Although I would like to see the registry scrapped, I am not holding my breath. derf

Grizzly Adamshello;
the Registry is only one aspect of that fiasco. The question, in my mind, is even if they are willing to scrap the Registry, would they be willing to relax some of the other rules, such as the importation of legitimate hunting and collectors weapons? I can't see any possible relaxation on qualifying to own firearms, safe storage regulations, or anything having to do wit Hand Guns. My son informs me that as of lately, you can't even get a permit to take certain "Prohibited" weapons to the range.

Cal SibleyI'm getting so deathly sick of this nonsense. It's a crooked government and should be brought down. It seems like we're being held hostage by Quebec. If you dare question anything they do here, the separatists jump right out threatening to seceed. This nonsense has to stop. They're wieding power all out of proportion to their numbers. Let's stand up to them and call their bluff. We'd be much more prosperous without them. Just one mans opinion. Best wishes.

My opinion is this: if they want to go, fine but this is what they will take with them;
Sorry but something glitched with my server.
1. They will take their portion of the
debt.
2.They will not use the Canadian Dollar.
3.They will not use our passports.
4.AND Their politicians will not get a
pension from Canada.
Then when they realize that no one else in the world wants them, then they will have to rejoin Canada under our terms.

OldsargeExcuse the outsider's lack of understanding, but if the Quebecois seceed, isn't there going to be an additional "problem" when the Indians seceed from Quebec . . . and take all their water and hydroelectric power with them? What will that leave, a bunch of subsidy-dependent, inefficient small-holders with no income?

Oldsarge- It is called the Ungava protectorate, and could prove interesting.
