Bear Attack Season Begins?
Becoming more common every year it seems!

Man may have been killed by a bear in northern B.C.

Lone wolf and one black bear found next to body near Mackenzie on Sunday

By Joanne Lee-Young, Vancouver Sun May 11, 2015 11:44 AM

Officials are looking into the possibility that the death of a man whose body was found Sunday in northern B.C. involved a bear.

The incident occurred near the 10.5 km mark of the Parsnip Forest Service Road near Mackenzie, according to the Ministry of Environment, which investigates cases involving wildlife and public safety.

A ministry spokesperson said the death was reported just after 10 a.m.

Someone found the body and called the police. The RCMP arrived and shot and killed one lone wolf and one male black bear that was approximately 300 pounds in weight.

Shortly after, the B.C. Conservation Office Service, which falls under the Ministry of Environment, arrived.

The Coroner has attended the site and examined the victim's body, which has been removed to the morgue in Mackenzie. Residents of the small town say the dead man was a local.

The Conservation Office Service and the RCMP are investigating. A post-mortem examination will be conducted on the bear, according to the Ministry.

Apparently, the man in McKenzie was indeed killed by a black bear. The man was sitting by the fire while his girlfriend slept in the motorhome. He dozed off and was killed by the bear.

O'Connor slept outdoors Saturday night while his fiancée slept in their motorhome. After O'Connor's fiancée woke up Sunday she exited the motorhome, realized something was wrong and went to get help, said McLintock, in a news release.

When RCMP and conservation officers arrived, they shot and killed one lone wolf and one male black bear that was about 300 pounds in weight.

When I first read it rape homicide I thought to myself.

It shouldn't be to long we should be hearing of an arrest unless members of the community decide to protect the responsible one.
