Its an Elk Valley ram. The dark (coal stained) horns are a dead give away.

It was actually a ram that lived on the Greenhills range. It left the mine property earlier than usual this year...presumably due to the odd weather, but who knows.

I don't know the resident hunter at all, but I know a few of the guys in the picture. Mainly guides and an outfitter.

That is a fabulous ram, reminds me of a group of monsters that I used to see when I worked on Athabaska Tower for the AFS in '90 and '91. One is in the bush there for 5 months or more and can often see a LOT of wildife.

There were several rams that hung out together, a HUGE climb from the nearest trail and I remember two of them that had "inner tubes" on their heads, just absolute HAWGS. I could have qualified for "resident" status, but, I had other priorities at the time.

I imagine that their grandsons are probably still there,but, very tough to approach/hunt. I have another spot in mind here in B.C. where a buddy of mine guided and told me about some real giants, hoping to go this fall after the Tuchodi.

I actually know the guy and other than saying that he is from Ft. St. J... I will say little else other than that I met his Brother in law who had "taken over" a cabin my outfitter owned on Birches Lake in the extreme north of BC.
Now his brother in law refused to claim to know the guy in question at the time. This didnt concern me too much as at the time I didnt know the nature of their relationship was. What was wierd was that after we had all retired I was up relieving myself and heard some strange sloshing sounds coming from the cabin. I drew closer and by the light of a half dozen candles within the cabin I personally witnessed the "brother in law" in the wheel barrow position with his diminutive hunting partner ( I think his name was Ted or Bill or something) As god is my witness this is true and occurred in October of last year (2005).
Now when one of you figures out who that smiling sob with that giant friggin ram is you show him this post and I promise he will admit shamefully that its true!
