Quebec Caribou?
I'm considering trying Quebec caribou in 2007. Would like some recommendations on outfitters. Would prefer to leave from Quebec City rather than Montreal, and would prefer to hunt with someone who doesn't want to make his whole year's living off of just me, if you know what I mean.

Anyone have any guidance to offer?

Thanks in advance!

Noted your location and would suggest you not hunt in Quebec but rather give Alaska a "look see...." Doubt that it would be a whole lot more expensive and having spent some time there for work and pleasure, do urge you to check it out. Lots of great outfitters and hunting not quite as commercial as it is in Quebec Check out Alaska Professional Hunting Association for info. Again, just a suggestion.

The reason for Quebec is to accomodate non-hunting spouses who would vacation in Montreal or Quebec City.

I am booked with Explo-Sylva for the last week of August. www.explo-sylva.com Other hunters I know have had good things to say about them. We have a group of twelve going up. A group of thirteen from our sportsmans club went this past Sept and took 26 nice bulls.

I guess a lot rides on how you hit the migration though. We will see.

Here is a great outfitter to work with:
His name is Andre Threlfal. My hunting partner and I have been there twice and have booked again for next year (have other hunts booked this fall). I've recommended TWL to others and have received rave reviews. You can also hunt black bear at his camps and only have to buy a bear license. Success is great on two caribou (a true 95% if you can shoot); black bear is about 30%. Last time, my buddy and I only got one a piece. He fell asleep each day animal, and I broke three ribs...got mine the next day and said, "that's enough." Eeker He also is set up to take husband/wife/significant other couples.

Another outfitter is Arctic adventures . I have never hunted with them although several friends have. I do know the manager as he comes out west to bird hunt with a buddy and I.
They have a good website.

There better off going all the way up to the hunt. You seen one city and you've seen them all.

My son and I hunted at Caribou Adventure in Que. 2005. We drove from Northern Ontario. The road was bad two flats but the hunt was great. We both shot 2 big Bulls and caught trout. We were treated well by the outfitter and will go again but will likley fly from Montreal or drive some one elses truck.
