Anybody know of a Winchester M70 Classic Stainless in .375HH for sale? Apparently the vault are empty here around Calgary, and a guy at the store was telling he'd been calling all over Western Canada...

You might find one at Lever Arms in Vancouver, BC. I was speaking with the owner recently and, if I remember correctly, he said he still had a couple.

I'd be damn careful about buying one of those things sight unseen. I wanted one too, thinking it would be a good all-weather, utility gun.

The first one I looked at had the iron sights installed really crooked, and I'm talking more than 5 degrees off to the left, and the screw holes in the receiver were also visibly out of line.

The second one had the iron sights less crooked (and I never even checked the screw holes in the receiver), but the bolt was binding something terrible.

I'd still like one, if I ever come across one that's built half ways straight and square. But I'd sure want to look it over before I came across with any money.

I swear, guns nowadays look like they just come spewing off the end of a conveyor belt, and into boxes, and off to consumers without as much as even being looked at by humans. I think they take more care making horse shoes, than they do rifles!

Well, it's become a non-issue, because I just called and they are out of .375's. But thanks for the tip! I appreciate the effort.

I'd suggest you look in on http://www.canadiangunnutz.com . They have an excellent classifieds section there, and you often see guns that are relatively uncommon. You have to register on the site, and register separately for the classifieds as well, but its well worth the hassle.

You could also check at http://www.ellwoodepps.com. They have an excellent selection of new and used guns.

Thanks for the suggestions on this rifle and the Sako. I've taken the gamble and bought the M70 off the guy on CDNGunnutz.

The Classic Safari M70 wasn't an options since my client insisted on stainless/synthetic.

Now this is off the mark, maybe I can go look for the Guide Gun (yes, in .45-70, unported barrel please ) that has beaten some unprepared shooter's shoulder to pulp, and which he is now willing to let go for half money.

A little something came up with this M70. The leupold mounting blocks he had to go with it apparently don't fit the drilled/tapped holes...

He claims there are two types of Leupold mounting blocks, and that the "other type" should fit. He has a one piece mounting block that apparently fits. But with all the talk of holes out of alignment, etc. I'm getting a bit apprehensive.

Jee, never thought it would be so difficult to get what I thought were run-of-the-mill rifles (the stainless Win M70 and Sako 75). What does a guy need to do to part with his money these days (or in this case someone elses money).
