steve gldsmtbear taxidermist near Edmonton?
I hope to have 2 bears as well as several others in the rest of my party when we finish our May 2008 hunt. Can anyone make a good recommendation for a taxidermist in Edmonton that we could leave our materials with and have them mounted?

GraylakeTo save you some hassel with customs, and cites permits. I would just get the hides frozen and fly home with them. That way you will save on freight costs from having mounts shipped. And you could just have your local guy do the work.
If that is not possible, then I am sure your outfitter will have a recomendation for a taxidermist. Just let us know who they recommend and I am sure somebody will have heard of them, and will be able to let you know if that is a good choice.
In the mean time I will check around with a few of the Taxi. that I have delt with in the past and see if any of them are still doing bear rugs. There have been a lot of taxiderists that are no longer doing bear rugs, too time consuming and like everybody else in Alberta. They are having trouble trying to get help....booming economy.

steve gldsmtThank you very much for the time to reply. Actually I am looking for a mount. I am not that thrilled with shoulder for bears but a full is quite an undertaking and investment

TexasHunterI would look at Brian Dobson of Artistic Taxidermy. I had a Whitetail mount done by him and it is awesome. Far superior work to other animals I have from the detail to the posture. He is on the expensive side, but his work is fantastic.

Tim HeraldBeautiful Mount!
I am using Alberta Taxidermy Industries out of Edmonton. Our outfitter delivered the hides, and I just got an invoice yesterday for the 2 rugs finished. Very reasonable and they do a good job. I was surprise that export permits, packing and shipping for 2 big rugs and a skull was only $160.
