CrazyhorseconsultingBear hunt suggestions.
I also posted this in the American hunting section.
Okay, I did a Fall Black Bear hunt in 2010 out of Elk City Idaho, and I am wanting to do a re-ride in 2015 for my 65th. birthday if possible.
Unfortunately, it appears that the outfit I hunted with in 2010 is no longer in business. So the search begins.
Parameters are, I want to do this in 2015, but holding off until 2016 is not out of the question. I am interested in a Fall hunt only. I know spring hunts are successful, but would rather do the hunt close to my birthday.
I also want to do a hunt in a two bear area. Odds are this will be my last bear hunt and one of my goals is to kill a bigger bear than the one I killed in 2010, which was about 165 pounds, so it won't take a monster to beat that. Also the meat was excellent.
I want to do a hunt over bait, I know a spot & stalk hunt would be exciting and would not be totally adverse to the idea as I have done my share of spot & stalk for various species over the years and been fairly successful.
I have no interest at all in doing a hunt with dogs, nothing against those that like that form of hunting, but my only ideas of hunting with dogs is quail or pheasant or good retrievers when hunting waterfowl.
Any suggestions of an outfitter/guide service will be greatly appreciated.
I am also going to post this in the Canadian Hunting section, because I have hunted in Canada twice and Lora and I both really enjoyed our trips there.
Many thanks in advance for any comments/suggestions/information.

NakihunterI got my bear in BC in Aug 2007.
Brown colour phase & about 300 pounds.
You can take 2 bears there spot & stalk.
I had a fantastic time & still think of those 6 days.

CrazyhorseconsultingMany Thanks for the information Naki. A Spot & Stalk is not really what I am looking for, but it is not completely out of the equation either.

CougarzYou might contact Wizard lake Outfitting in northern Alberta. I'm not sure if they do fall hunts but I did a spring hunt this year and took two bears 7 and 7 1/2 footer. We saw lots of bears and had numerous opertunities. I plan on going back sometime in the future.

kkIf you are interested in heading east, I have hunted Long Lake Adventures in New Brunswick twice and killed a bear each time within an hour of sitting down in the blind. The owner, Clay Harrison, enjoys making fun of my luck. Both were very good bears -- the first one being extremely good. Sorry I can't recall the lengths. Both were perfect heart shots. Harrison does not chalk that part up to luck, but I use a VXIII with an illuminated reticle, which is great against a black or brown background, and the shots are rarely over 70 yards.
Clay's wife is a dynamite cook, and the property sits on Long Lake where you can troll for lakers or brook trout if you fill your bear tags early. You fly into Fredericton and drive about two hours.
