Is it legal to ship a rifle barrel from the US to Canada?

bedrockMoe - There are better guys than me to answer your but this is how I understand it. The easy answer is yes and no. As far as I know you are not breaking any laws to receive a barrel in Canada. My understanding is that the problem is on your side of the border. You must have an FFL and the proper paperwork to LEGALLY ship the barrel out of the States. A call to your State Dept. may explain things clearly. Obviously there are companies here in Canada that bring in barrels all the time but I'm assuming it is done with proper paperwork. I'm guessing you are talking a private sale sort of thing. There may be somebody here that is more up on this than me. Hope it helps.

AtticusA rifle barrel will need an Export License from the US State Department, Office of Defense Trade Controls. Shotgun barrels and all scopes need an Export License from the US Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry and Security. You'll need an import certificate from Canadian authorities to get either and each will take several weeks
