They offered me a hunting property near Cumberland Bay (NB) Someone know if the area is good for hunting - shooting- fishing?

Cumberland Bay on Grand Lake? Yes its a nice area. Property in rural new brunswick is a bargain these days.

I've hunted New Brunswick near the St. John's river. Black bear were very common. Everyone at the lodge I hunted at tagged out on the first or second day. The fishing was phenomenal. Also, we saw waterfowl every day.
I saw lots of moose, but I understand it is very difficult to get a permit. Deer are scarce as well, but the trophy quality is exceptional. Overall, I saw a lot of thinly populated land that was full of game.

The hunting can be good, but the seasons are fairly short, one month for deer in the fall, bear have spring and fall seasons, moose are on a lottery draw. Ducks, geese, grouse and woodcock about a 2 month fall season good hunting. Rabbits year round.

Ummmm...our deer season is only one month as well. Moose is draw only for a lot of areas.
But, we have more game and are better looking.
Just my opinion.

this is the reason I'm in doubt about buying the property. Seems the NB is full of game of different species but the hunting seasons are very short.

Alberta is another option. I hunted around Grande Prairie few years ago and I was very impressed. Ther'are more species (mule, withetail. elk, moose, bear...) and the hunting season seems longer. The properties are more expensive: about three times that in NB. But I found some offers quite interesting around the lesser slave lake.

Hmmm, guess you don't hunt the western side of the province where rifle season starts mid sept to the end of nov 2.5 months and bow season starts mid August till end of november 3.5 months. Yes.... Alberta definately has better hunting than N.B. British Columbia is tops in Canada in my opinion.

i found the property I'm interestd in cumberland bay. Other offers near Miramichi.
For my experience in B.C. ther'is more game but the hunting is more difficult as the forest is very thick. In Alberta foothils and plains ther'is agricolture land mixed with forest and the game is easier to see.

Ok, we have to throw bow hunting out because in NB they have extended bowhunting season as well. And in regard to the extended rifle season in certain areas of the province, you have to throw that out too because it is only in certain areas so is not the norm.
I have hunted in the western part of the province. I do all of my elk hunting and bear hunting between Grande Prarie and Grande Cache. And I hunted around Cold Lake as well. Great places to get away from the road hunters(poachers) who kill the title "hunter".

Much of the province is open in sept except the farmland and heavier populated areas, which makes only about a third of the province that isn't open then.
