Rich-Eastern Moose
I'm looking to plan a hunt for 2013 and an Eastern Moose hunt is something I would like to do. Where in eastern Canada is the best place to go for this species? Can anyone recommend an outfitter?

RamhunterDepends on what you're looking for. Newfoundland has the highest moose density in North America. The hunts are reasonably priced and the success rates are very high.
The downside is that the typical trophy quality is mediocre. While some trophy class animals are taken every year, most hunts there should probably be considered as meat hunts.

Rich-I'm looking for a trophy quality bull.

CoyoteKiller82Northern Manitoba, specifically the NE portion of the province...not sure on outfitters but a google search might be helpful!

Rich-Thanks Coyote,
I'll look into NE Manitoba and see what info I can find.
Any idea how difficult it is to enter into Canada with firearms?

Correct, but in his post previous to mine he states a "trophy quality" bull, which can be found in NE MB.
Medved's links to the RCMP will tell you all you need to know to get a firearm in CDA!

CurtissA moose in Maine requires winning a lottery for a permit. Odds for drawing are horrible, but if you draw a tag, the odds for a good moose are high.

CurtissA trophy moose can be had, but not likely with a low priced hunt. Several outfitters offer fly in or primitive hunts, that will drastically improve the odds of a good moose. The outfitters have a pretty good idea where a better moose is to be had.
Cost of this sort of hunt will be 2-4,000 higher.

CurtissMy comment regarding a trophy grade moose are for a New Foundland hunt.

joestersee my post under "Newfoundland, any experience...?" Dean's area is loaded with moose. I sat w/guy @ RMEF dinner Sat. night who hunted Nfld. w/another outfitter & 4 guys never saw a moose in 6 days- - I didn't think that was possible up there. There are LOTS of moose where Dean hunts.
