I am looking to hunt Wolf in Alberta this February, and am looking for any recommendations for a Quality and reasonably priced outfitter. I thank you in advance for your assistance.

Are you set on Alberta?

If not, here's a really good Yukon option...

Thanks Canuck.....I have heard that the largest population was in Alberta, but would hunt any good location in Canada.
I checked out Lone Wolf Outfitting that you recommended, but at $5900.00 usd, I think I will pass.
Any other suggestions?

I have hunted with Peter Martin and he runs a top notch outfit. Peter really knows his quarry, but I would hunt near the first of the new year as these dogs wise up quickly. My brother in law has killed 8 wolves with Pete and is going to be ther the first week of '07. He's addicted!

It was a number of years, not too many ago, and the price was a per diem at that time. No way I would pay that type of rate today...

Can someone claify for me if a non-resident needs an outfitter to hunt wolf in AB?
I'm trying to remember but I thought that they just had to buy a licence.
5900 to hunt wolf seems quite high since they aren't a big game animal per say

If you have that much to fight for, then you should be fighting. The sentiment that modern day ordinary Canadians do not need firearms for protection is pleasant but unrealistic. To discourage responsible deserving Canadians from possessing firearms for lawful self-defence and other legitimate purposes is to risk sacrificing them at the altar of political correctness."

Here is another option for you...

http://www.birdriver.com/

He operates out of Lac Du Bonnet in south-east Manitoba. I have met him quite a few times and consider him to be the real deal. I've been in his lodge three times...it is very impressive and is full of gorgeous black bear, huge whitetails and a bunch of nice wolf pelts.

I am sure he can hook you up. I have no idea what he charges for wolf hunts but his black bear hunts are VERY reasonable, so I would expect his wolf hunts to be as well.

Very convenient location too...just fly to Winnipeg and he picks you up there. His lodge is about an hour and a half away.

Hope this helps,
Canuck

cold zero,
Give Peter a call, I'll let him fill you in.

Currently I'm waiting to see if I draw New Mexico tags before I book, if I don't get tags I'm headed to see Peter in December.
