Robert johnsonJim Shockey has the best hunting show on TV, Giving his guide service access to millions of viewers each week. I talked to Jim in France last March and he said he had 80 Black bear hunters booked for Vancouver island and he was sold out on Moose hunts. Being in sales I can tell you Jim is a very smart guy when it comes to marketing!
Great show ! True hunting - no penned hunts, Truly a nice Guy! I would hunt with him if I could afford it.

WallheadI enjoy his shows as well. Great locations - good animals - seems to be a pretty normal guy.
"Shoot hard, boys."

AKsheephunterBlaser and Mike D.,
You could do a moose hunt, to include a caribou and/or black bear for a fraction of that price, even as a non-res in the good ole' USA, ALASKA!!!. Do the research, and plan your hunt, you can go unguided. You might be late in the ball game for this year, but could easily swing it next year. Yes, back country Bush trips have gone up due to Fuel and Insurance costs, but there are ways of saving extra $$$$. PM me if you'd like. Good luck

blaser93I have been to Alaska Twice Killed a Brown bear and a nice Black bear. The Next time I will come is after a Dall Sheep.

AKsheephunterYes indeed, Dall Sheep, the Crown jewel of Alaska. I've hunted all over the world myself, but I have a passion for the Dall sheep and Kodiak mountain Goat...for the white ram is what brought me here.
I used to live in MD too, stationed at Andrews AFB, supporting the Air Force One Mission.

TexasHunterI met Jim three or four years ago at the Saskatoon Inn. He was having breakfast/meeting with all of his guides before they picked up hunters. We spoke after the meeting for 10 or so minutes, really nice guy. He was in person just like he is on the show.
Hunts are expensive, but many of the canadian hunts have sky rocketed with the weak dollar.

bc300winguyI'm originally from Saskatchewan and return every year to hunt whitetales. I've met and talk with Jim and his wife numerous times at the airport. He is a great guy very interesting talk hunting with. I too would love to hunt moose with him but the wife would change the locks when she saw the bill.

bluefinPersonally, Shockey is the only tv hunting personality I'd pay extra to have at a campfire. Too many of the tv types are filming behind high fences or are limiting themselves to specific game or countries. Shockey is more of the type of hunter I'd like to be - hunts all type of game all over the world.
Three of his shows that stick out in my mind are his Canadian mountain goat. I went to AK last year and it was by far the toughest thing I've endured. How Shockey, as big as he is, hiked those mntns demonstrated his desire (note, there weren't many pics taken of them actually climbing - too difficult to film and climb). Another going after muskox in AK. Man, that looked cold. Crossing the frozen tundra in a sled and four wheelers. I still remember him showing what they were having for dinner that night - frozen fish! LOL And lastly, his gator hunt in Africa. Classic. He had to travel in what was a cut out log to cross a river/lake to hunt a croc that had eaten a villager. They showed him climbing into this cutout log that was suppose to serve as a boat and the water was up to the gunwales. They even subtitled so you could see what the Africans were saying about him being too fat for the boat. I've done some crazy things but crossing a lake/river filled with crocs in a homemade 'boat' - no way!
