.300 Wby Mag, availability?
after i'm returning from my one year hunting/fishing trip here in Norway, i would very much like to go to Canada for a blackbear hunt.

so to the question, is there any difficulties to buy appropriate ammunition for my .300 Wby Mag, in places where i'm likely to hunt blackbear.

at home i use federal's factory loading with 180grs barnes tsx, and i have found it quite satisfactory for norwegian moose, so i think i'll bring this for the hunt.

I can't speak for the eastern provinces, but it is generally available. It is fairly popular, so a lot of sporting goods stored will have a couple boxes...but you may not be able to be picky about brand or bullet. If you are in the bigger centers at all (Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Regina, Winnipeg..), you will definitely find some ammo, and have some selection.

Hope this helps,
Canuck

thank you for your answers.
it's good to know i can get ammunition if needed.

a friend of mine walked into a sporting goods store in a small town, to buy ammunition to his .300 Win Mag.
the answer he got was "hmm...i've never heard of that cartridge". Eeker

last night i sat down with coke, chips, my rifle and watched "grizzly man"
i watched at least 1/4 of the film trough my scope.

i just can't wait to go bearhunting.
