I don't think there is anything new there, except that they only filled 14 of the 40 available tags! That is sobering. It is certainly true that the "natives" do sell some of their tags to foreign ie. American hunters, and that source of revenue has dried up since the ban on importation of polar bear hides.

I'm hoping a buddy that guides will relent and hook me up with an affordable hunt!

What has happened to pricing since these became unimportable? Some of us are bargain hunters! Smiler

From what I have researched, many outfitters have stopped booking hunts until the US ban is lifted instead of adjusting prices. Webb Polar bear page etc.

If you have that much to fight for, then you should be fighting. The sentiment that modern day ordinary Canadians do not need firearms for protection is pleasant but unrealistic. To discourage responsible deserving Canadians from possessing firearms for lawful self-defence and other legitimate purposes is to risk sacrificing them at the altar of political correctness."

Hi I am from London England

Sorry to barge in on this thread.
Am I correct in saying hunting is still permitted but trophy is not allowed to be imported to the US only?

Will I be allowed to export a polar bear trophy to England ?

Can somebody point me in the right direction as to how to contact an native indian directly ?

Thanks in advance.

LH it is not the exportation but the importation that is the issue, so you will have to check with the British authorities. Take the link and Google some of the names. Failing that, look up Manitoba Canada for hunting opportunities and email those guys. They will have contacts to the "locals".
Peter.

I have always wanted to hunt a Polar Bear , but lack of funds has stoped that , unless I swap hunting in the South Pacific as I guide here !

But I dont think any one , but a Inuit can hunt Polar Bear in Manitoba , from my reseach !
