Hi, I am hunting whitetail tommorrow around Evansburg/Magnolia, Alberta (about 90kms west of Edmonton). We will hunt a farm, buts its small (about 100acre I think), so if that doesn't work out, is there crown land we can access in that area to continue our hunt?

Does anyone know this area, the Regional roads we can use?

I don't know the Evansburg/Entwistle area very well, but I have driven through there a bunch of times. I'd be surprised if there is much crown land, as it is mostly farm country.

You can often have good success getting permission from private landowners though. Presuming you have a strong south african accent you can probably play that to your advantage (who could say no to someone that has come that far to hunt deer!).

If you go a little further west, around Edson, you'll find lots of Crown land. I've hunted north of Edson and its a maze of logging and oil field roads.

There is the 16,000+ acre jackpine grazing lease just south or HWY 16 that is open to anyone. Go south off of the highway at range road 62 at gainford for 3 miles, there is a 90 degree corner and the land south and west from that corner is all crown lease, that is the north west corner of the grazing lease,or you could farther west on HWY16 and go south on Range road 70 3 miles to the corner that goes west everything south and east of this is crown lease That corner is the North west boundary of the Grazing reserve. There are whitetail, muleys, elk and Moose. You could probably stop in at the Gainford Pub and ask directions from some locals there.

Hi Check out this site. It has maps to all the grazing reserves in alberta. Remember you may have to get permission to hunt on some or all the lands listed.

I will do that next time....went out this morning...no whitetails (except 11 in the adjacent farm fields!). I did have a moose in the scope from 80m...and moose no tag!!!

I will use the recommended resources next time.
