Bill/OregonNeed a favor from a Canadian
Fellas, this is an odd request. I read this story about a town in Cuba trying to keep alive some West Indies traditions, including maintaining a cricket team.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/worl...tin-america-20849650I contacted the BBC reporter, Sarah Rainsford, in Havana about sending a couple of good, English willow cricket bats to the team, and she said if I can get the bats to Havana, she or one of her BBC colleagues will deliver the bats to the Baragua club. Here is my problem: the cricket vendors I am working with in the States cannot ship to Cuba because of the stupid U.S. trade embargo. So my options are to find a cricket vendor in Canada, or have the bats shipped to me, then I will ship to some peach of a Canadian chap who will then ship them to Havana. I will of course cover all the costs.
If anyone is up for this, please let me know. This is just a simple gesture from an anonymous American to a struggling cricket club in Baragua, Cuba.
Thanks for any thoughts,
Bill

CoyoteKiller82Recently I traveled to Cuba and understand their plight in many everyday conveniences us North Americans often take for granted. I would be more than willing to provide a helping hand with this endeavor. I'll shoot you a PM and we can start brainstorming!

Bill/OregonPM returned, CK. Thank you!
This will probably be easier if I can locate a good Canadian cricket supplier. Suggestions welcome.

Hate to tell you this, but Hockey is the thing up here.

Probably have a tough time finding a supplier of cricket bats. Lot of things Cubans need more than a few pieces of hardwood.
