Canadian legal opinion re: Trans Fees
I know it's kind of cheesy, but if any barristers/solicitors are viewing, and no bullshitters need respond

do you think I would have any luck getting reimbursed, as far as the trans fees, for the 500 or so guns my business has sold in the past year and a half?

GatehouseI'm not a lawyer, but they said it wasn't retroactive

skhunterIf a fee went up would you think the government could or should ask for more on those items previously purchased? Hehe but nice try!
Of course, the elimination of a fee is totally different than raising an existing fee.
Wasn't the gov. supposed to refund registration fees? If they did that, wouldn't that provide a basis for argument?

CaribooIn their press release yesterday the liberals stated that the elimination of the fees was not retroactive. There is not a hope in hell of anyone getting their transfer fees back.
Even if they did plan on refunding the fees you as a dealer would not be entitled to any refunds for guns you sold. The purchaser (regardless who actually paid the fees) was the one responsible for payment to the CFC and as such would be the one getting the refund if there was one coming. (Which will never happen)
