Ruger Redregistration cards
I was at my gunsmihs yesterday and he told me that he was talking to a couple of his friend s that are on the local police force . They told him that they are suppose to start issueing $200.00 fines for people that dont carry their registration cards with them when they are asked to produce it . Is this just somethng new, or is it because we have new provincial government in power???

stubblejumperThe law requires that the cards always be with the gun.

dan belisleThey've also ruled that copies are OK, but the police officer can still demand the originals. Franz, that is what they are saying now, but it's really up to the individual officer, as it is the law. And a damn bad one, but that's another tale. - Dan

CampXWhatever....I went through a game-check roadblock and all the CO wanted to see was my FAC card. Told him what guns I had with me, he didn't even want to see them. Now, I'm not sure about the RCMP, but talking to a couple that I know, they think the law is a bulls**t one too....

Cal SibleyRegistration cards? What registration cards? I registered three rifles and sure enough received the registration cards for them. Then as the deadline neared I registered 17 more by Internet. I received on online confirmation, but that's been over a year ago, and I'm still waiting for the registration cards. I'm told they haven't been discontinued. So, where are they? You can't reach these people by telephone. How did we get stuck with these clowns?
I find it discouraging. Best wishes.

Frans DiepstratenI registered my guns in April, a month or two after arrival in Canada..got my registration cards in the mail about four weeks later. Getting CFC on the phone is impossible...asking by e-mail is OK if you have the patience to wait 2-3 months for an answer (from my own experience)...maybe you are part of that batch of addresses they apparently lost??

WannabeBwanaThere's no such thing as a registration "card" any more. There are now ordinary printer papers with a printed registration on them, that can be copied, laminated, or used to wipe your ass. I keep copies in my vehicle, and in my gun safe, but I'm damned if I'll start sorting through 20 odd registration certificates to put one in my pocket when I get out of my truck to go hunting.
And I'll defy any cop out there to prove whether or not the one I have in my truck is an original or a copy, without some expensive forensic testing. That's just a bullshit statement. Printed on a lazer printer or copied on a lazer copier, how is the average cop going to know which is the "original"?
