yankeesOutfitter wanted on Vancouver Island
Need info on a reasonable priced black bear outfitter on Vancouver Island.

Frans DiepstratenStart counting at about US$4500, plus some taxes and licenses. The trophy fees for a second bear have gone up quite a bit too. If you think that is reasonable, I can suggest an outfitter or two.
Contact me at terrahunt@yahoo.com or PM me, if you'd like to hear more.
Mind you, for the upcoming spring, some are already booked solid.

kutenayGawd, that is just outrageous, Black Bears are a "pest" species in most parts of B.C. and, yes, I have spent quite a lot of time on northern V.I. I'm a loyal B.C.'er, but, unless it was a hunt from a comfortable boat and involved a lot of exploration of the B.C. mid-coast, I wouldn't even consider paying that to hunt Blackies.
I would check into outfitters in other parts of B.C. and Alberta, Manitoba also has some HUGE Black Bears. I want to see B.C. people benefit from foreigners hunting our wildlife at least until this practice ends as I think it soon will, BUT, charging this kind of cash to drive around logging slashs is highway robbery and there are other options.

RackmastrI agree....a 20-21" bear can be done in Alberta with the opportunity at colour phased bears as well...plenty of other options for the price and the quality of hunt....

yankeesI might mention that I am interested in spot and stalk only! Hunting to me is NOT sitting in a tree stand! Thanks for info!

RackmastrYankees,
I said nothing about bait hunts. If you head to Alberta or Northern BC you can have a great spot/stalk hunt for big bears and save some of your $$......

Thanks! Any suggestions for areas/outfitters where a lot of bear can be seen and some large ones? I hunted last spring with Niut trails about nine hours drive North of Vancouver. In one week we only saw about six bears but I did get one. Two of the six were grizzly but they cannot be shot in this area.

RackmastrPelly Lake Outfitters (north of Prince George) is a good spot and you usually can see 15+ bears on an average 'good' day, with some real monsters as well. Its mostly logging areas with some berry patches, etc and all spot/stalk hunts.
http://www.comehunt.comFredlund Guide Service is also a really good place to check out. He runs in Alberta and is now operating in BC and is one of the hardest hunting guys I know....

Jim KobeI hunted with a guy named Brad Lister. He ran a number of float houses along the coast and has the area there. If you want a contact number, give me an email. Jkob60@aol.com I would rccomend him highly. Jim Shockey, IMHO, is getting too big for his britches. Brad showed me over 40 bears in 3 days and I got a 7 footer on a spot and stalk from his boat
