question regarding registering your guns.
I'm taking up my remington 870 for a bear trip this week and was filling out the paperwork when I noticed that the serial number is covered up by my scope mount (b-square mount, wraps around the reciever). I have the paperwork that has the serial number on it but I'm wondering if they actually compare numbers or even if they look for a serial number on the gun? Worse case scenerio is that I will have to re-sight my gun in. I wonder if they bend any or if they will give me a hard time, any information would be appreciated.

I would suggest you resight your gun that will be a lot easier than donating a gun and some of your time and money to the Canadian Government.
On second thought just leave it off the gun when you go and the S/N will be visable. Then sight it in when you get there. A PITA but they are not going to give you a choice on showing the SN.

They are Canadian Customs agents... that's there purpose for being it seems. I think sometimes they get the biggest assholes in Canada and give them a customs badge. Trust me, they know nothing of guns and little about the Canadian gun laws.
Other than that you should enjoy the rest of Canada and good luck.

To be fair, in my experience you can substitute any country name for "Canadian" in the paragraph above.
Canuck
