Seven days until I will be up hunting Bison again in the Yukon ! ! ! ! I never thought, as a child, I would ever be anxious for Christmas to be over!

AlfonzJohn,
There is not very much snow in the south or north zone. I shot a Bison on Dec 29, the weather is warm -3c on Thursday. One resident took a bull in the 124 B&C class out of the south. I think it might be a little bumpier ride on the snowmobile than your use to.
Give Tim my reards

JohnTheGreekGot back to Whitehorse a couple days ago with my bull. No clue what he scores yet but the preliminary report is posted in the Big Game forum.
Congrats on your bull Alfonz! You are right, it was definitely bumpy...but more comfortable in terms of temperature than a few years ago. WHEW...124"....what a bull! Especially impressive is that you guys are taking them! No offense intended as I would probably die out there on my own but I understand resident success has fallen off big time as the animals have become increasingly wary over the years. Yours is quite an accomplishment.
Best,
John

AlfonzJohn,
Your right the resident harvest is slow, I have heard that 8-12 bison have been taken so far. Did you get your bison from a group or was it alone? Alot of the residents that have January/ March tags wait until March for the warmer weather and longer days. The other drawback is that the bison are more weary by that time of the year. I believe there were 112 permits issued between the first nation, residents ,& outfitter.
