carpediem4570**WARNING** FRAUD ALERT RE. PALS IN CANADA
Good Day All:
I received a call from someone today claiming to be with RCMP CFC. He stated in his message that my file shows my firearms license has expired and they do not have a current address on file. Would I please call back to 780-670-8688 and clear this matter up and he will send out a new application in the mail.
I phoned cfc and verified my pal was not expired and cfc has a current address for me. Cfc told me they just got wind of this scam.
Cfc gave me a fraud hotline to report the incident. The lady who took my information told me this was the first she has heard of this.
Should you get a call claiming the above, phone the cfc to report the incident and call the fraud hotline at 1-888-495-8501.
And if you are hyper security conscience like me, don't take my word for it. Ask the cfc for the fraud hotline number yourself.
Please pass this on to all your friends and notify your local gun stores.
I have no idea how these people got my number for my cell phone but I can only think there is a breech in security and someone out there is running around with the phone numbers of people who own firearms. Probably a good time to call your M.P. and the news media.
Kind regards,

Canuck32I'm betting it is in relation to back in 2006 when Toronto Star through FIOA had interactive map showing gun owners locations across Canada. Didn't have names and such, but did have addresses which someone could cross reference to present day.
Yet another reason why registration is dangerous in Govt hands.
If you have that much to fight for, then you should be fighting. The sentiment that modern day ordinary Canadians do not need firearms for protection is pleasant but unrealistic. To discourage responsible deserving Canadians from possessing firearms for lawful self-defence and other legitimate purposes is to risk sacrificing them at the altar of political correctness."
