londonhunterWhere I do I go for the largest black/brown bear in Canada
I would like to book with a profesional outfitter in CANADA for a large trophy bear. I am an experience hunter in Europe so crossing the pond is a new experience for me. Can anybody direct me to the correct region for a large trophy bear. I read that east coast outfitter cannot produce such a trophy and I should enquire to the west i.e. BC is this true? Any feebback will be appreciated. I intend to bring my 9.3 x 62 or 9.3 x 74 double for such as hunt.
Thanks

sheephunterabWhen you say brown bear, are you refering to the brown colour phase of the black bear? Typically, in North America, brown bear refers to the coastal grizzly in Alaska....also called Kodiak bears.
As for big black bears, both Alberta and Saskatchewan offer good bears if you don't mind hunting over bait. If you are looking to do spot and stalk, then Vancouver Island in British Columbia is your best bet. I can recommend a couple good outfitters if you let me know the type of hunt you are looking for.

CanuckI will concur with sheephunterab...for BIG black bears, taken on a spot and stalk style hunt, Vancouver Island and Coastal BC is your best bet.

nkonkaCochran River Outfitters in northern Saskatchewan. Big bears over bait and more than a few color phase bears.
And NO, i do not book for them. Just know the operation.
