scruffySuch an odd grizzly bear story
Yo !
I was talking to a friend of mine the other day and he finished off a story to me that took a year or two in the making. He lives in the shadow of the Shining Mountains (Rockies) and a couple of years ago a pair of three year old grizzlies were hanging around. He had seen them several times and mentioned that they had hibernated the previous winter and really did not look all that good when they came out of the den. Anyways, one day he was riding his horse not all that far from his home when one of the grizzlies took off after him. Being a genuine cowboy (and not the drugstore type that I am) he outran the bear. Now this dude has kids and you can imagine that it is not good to have such a bear around .. plus he was plenty steamed. So he goes home and grabs a rifle and is going to whack this varmint ! The griz was not to be found so he contacted the Fish Cops who came out and live trapped the griz. Now this particular bear had also chased a neighbour who was out on an atv ... The game warden in charge suggested that the bear be destroyed but the Big Guys (whoever they might be) nixed that suggestion and the bear was moved many hundreds of miles up north ..
Its sibling also got into trouble doing something else and was moved also, but nowhere near as far north. A year later the four year old grizzly, ear tags and all chased a rancher into his house up north. It refused to leave so the rancher shot it dead. And phoned the fish cops to let them know what had happened. They did the investigation and that was about it ... Meanwhile its sibling got into trouble in its new area also and was killed by a conservation officer. The two four year old grizzlies died within an hour of each other.

Daryl S.Politics puts many lives in danger, every year - nothing new there.
Around here, people take care of problem grizzly bears themselves - dig a hole with the back-hoe, fill it in, problem solved.

Grizzly AdamsLady shot one, at Bearberry, not far from here, a few years ago. It was a problem bear that had been re-located, from west of Calgary to Red Earth, 400 miles north. Bear was back down here, in 2 months

scruffyHmmmm ... what I was trying to say was that the two siblings would live to be four years old .. and die an hour apart .. hundreds of miles from each other.
