betrunkenLooking for a good single shot 22-250 brand.
Does anyone know of a decent gun maker that makes single shot 22-250 (Any type, ie. break) that are easily available in Canada?
Thanks.

GraylakeRuger make a break action sigle shot. And Savage makes a bolt action single shot in their 12bvss-s line.
Past that I am not sure.

hiredgunI have Ruger #1 V in 22-250. Excellent gun, good shooter and very attractive. It is a falling block rather than a break action. Generally the V models (heavy weight barrel with scope blocks on barrel) are better shooters than the rib models, in my opinion.
I have a T/C Encore. 26" heavy barrel and it is a tack driver. The great part is the Encore system allows you buy many different barrels and calibers.
I have a Ruger #1, and a Blaser K95. I have had TC Encore and Contender ( they were ok), and I have had many NEF single shots (crap triggers, but most have been accurate).
I want a Sabatti single shot. I plan on buying a few when I get to Italy.

Cal SibleyYou can also order a Remington 40X in .22-250Rem. It's a special order that may take you a few weeks longer to receive, but anyone that sells Remington firearms can order one for you. It's a very accurate rifle, but a little pricey. You can check them out on the Remington website:

BbearI don't know if they are available up north, but H&R (owned by Marlin) make a fine single shot rifle. Nothing pretty to look at. Gosh-awful triggers, but price is about right. $250 US or less.
I have a varmint barrel in .223 that will print just about any round inside of an inch (2.54 c) all day long.
Ruger and TC would be my other choices. If I had the cash, I'd definately go for the K95 Blaser.

9.3 riflemanI have had great luck with Ruger #1's. T/C's and Brownings are good as well. You could always go with a Dakota or a Blaser if money wasn't an issue. I personally like the massive strength offered by a falling block single shot rifle.

Sambar 9.3G'day, I think most of the posts will give you an idea into what's good (or not!), but I can personally recommend the following; Ruger No 1 or 3 (same action, plain finish!), H&R single shots (accurate, but crappy triggers!), and the Blaser K95 or 95BBF. If strength is your first consideration, go Ruger. Accuracy, go Blaser. Price, you cannot beat H&R.
It all boils down to what you want, and how much you are willing to pay.

djpepperYou can get a Cooper single shot as well. 2 places are importing them, one being Edmonton Wholesale Sports. Cooper would be happy to tell you who all is bringing them in.

Grizzly AdamsHello;
Is it just me, or does anyone else have questions about the safety of the H&R type rifles? Other than the crappy trigger that comes with this type of action, is it safe to put barrels on a shotgun action, that generate over 50,000 PSI?

Roger KeezerThe H&R rifles are not on a shotgun action anymore. I have a muzzle loader and a 243 barrel for the same gun. They perform well. I load the 243 pretty heavy, with no problems.
