PapershredderI would try checking with your local post office. If you take them the approx. measurements/weight of a package they will be able to estimate the shipping for you. Papershredder

WannabeBwanaBe careful to check with US and Canada customs. I think there is a prohibition on shipping "military" type items and scopes are on the list. Probably won't make it across the border.

downwindtracker2The ban is on the US side,a lot of retailers,don't know or care.The US postage is much more than the Cacadian,slower too,but CDN postoffice does much cheaper brokerage fees than other shippers,remmeber you have to pay GST. I think the difference has to be more than $50,to be worth the bother.

yamaI think you will have a problem getting anything that will be used on a firearm across the border. Unless you buy it on e-bay, then you can get handguns and everything!
What kind of scope are you after? They are all pretty much available here, or a very suitable substitute.

wedgthe scope is lupie 6/42 it is used. i'm buying it from a private indivdul if that makes a difrence.

yamaNot sure. I did try to get a set of sights for my rifle and Brownell's refused to even consider any way of getting it shipped here; I would presume that an optical scope would fall into the same BATF regs.? It's a mess and I try to avoid the border whenever possible. FWIW.

Cal SibleyYou have to be careful now even buying reloading equipment in person in the states and bringing it back across the border. Canada has no restrictions to speak of, but the U.S. is starting to check on the U.S. side of the border now. Their new laws govern reloading supplies "exiting" the country as well as entering it. They require an export permit obtainable from the U.S. State Dept. It's a lengthy process to obtain one and a pain in the old wazoo as well. Up until a couple months ago we only had to worry about what we had shiiped in, but now it's what we carry in as well. Best wishes.

derfI was hunting on the Stewart Lake road Yama and didn't make it any farther than Dawson Creek. Of course having truck troubles didn't help. We are going back up next year, I will see if my hunting partner would like to make a little detour. derf

yamaThe fly fishing on Stewart Lake is a real hoot; come up alittle earlier and enjoy it! Make the trip to my store, you won't be disappointed.

CanuckI can vouch for the quality of yama's store. Love it. If it was a closer drive for me, or if I wasn't so bloddy impatient and could wait for my infrequent trips to FSJ, yama would free me of most of my walkin around money!
This year I will try to schedule my work calendar around your B-day Sale, yama!

Hey, those guys at Corlanes are decent chaps! They held on to my rifles while I was doing the immigration thing, and the Dutch government was trying to lay her hands on them. No charge. Of course it probably helped that a friend of mine in DC almost lives in their store ;-)
To be completely honest, their prices usually are a tad higher than what I can find around Calgary...but they've earned that I ship them the ocassional dollar. Nice guys.
Too bad my new job is not likely to take me to FSJ, I'd have loved to drop by. Possibly next fall, a buddy of mine is trying to become the manager of an outfit somewhere up there (take that geographical indication with a wide margin, as I said it's *somewhere* up there, I forgot exactly where).

yamaI won't knock Rod, Tim or Brenda. We work together and help each other out when possible. It's a reality that costs are higher in the north. It's not only shipping, but rent and other stuff like wages that must be paid to attract some from the "patch" jobs that pay a lot.
If any of you get the chance, please make sure you introduce yourselves if you make it in.
