Black bear guides in British Columbia?
Hello all,

I've some European friends interested in doing some black bear hunting in British Columbia. They want primarily spot and stalk hunting.

Can anyone recomend some good outfitters?

Thanks!

Dennis Smith of Bear Paw Outfitters. Greg Rodriquez (www.mbogo.net) posts here sometimes and he books for Dennis. I hunted his area in 2002 and both my father and I took very good bears. Our picture is posted on his website under group hunts.

Dad's was a chocolate colored blackie and it squared 7'1". Mine was coal black and it squared 6'11". All spot and stalk. Baiting is illegal in B.C. We saw over 25 different bears before we fired a shot because Dad really wanted a chocolate and I wasn't shooting until he scored.

As a side note, you can take wolf as an animal of opportunity for a $50 license fee. Our party saw 2 of them and I blew the shot on a big black one. So the chance is fair that you can get one. Dennis will allow you to tae 2 bears if you buy 2 tags. It's a good outfit. PM me if you want more specific info.

Cheers

I would recommend RoyPatterson of Sentinel
Mountain Outfitters 250 965-7788
I have hunted 4 times over the last 20 years
with Roy and have booked again for next may 2007. Roys clients are mostly europeans.
Lots of bears, moose, elk, and deer

Is this the same guy who was attacked by a wounded grizzly then shot it a couple of years later and now has it mounted in his house?

Yes that is the same guy. Roy also won the Canadian tough man contest in his younger days. Cool

Every time I have hunted with Roy I have seen 4-12 bears a day.

That's Roy and the grizzly

My brother and I are going in the Spring of '08 with the Collingwood Bros out of smithers. They have been guiding since 1969. Very reasonable.

We did much research. These folks are legends in B C. This is a family run outfit, very professional and have an outstanding reputation!

A friend of mine just killed a nice black wolf with them and is having a full mount done. He didn't get his caribou.
