Charter Arms Bulldog

swampshooterCharter Arms Bulldog
I recently ordered and purchased a new Charter Arms Bulldog 2 1/2" stainless. As it came I had a couple of issues with it. I called Charter Arms and they sent me a Fedx postpaid box. My revolver was returned in less than 10 days with all issues resolved. It shoots very well now and I'm very pleased with the revolver and with Charter Arms Customer Service.
My main reason for purchase was to shoot the shot capsules that Speer sells. Rattlesnakes are big and numerous where I live. But this revolver also shoots my cast bullet loads very well. This revolver has instantly became one of my favorites.

p dog shooterNow that it is fixed it well most likely keep working but I wouldn't but a lot of rounds through it.

LuckyduckerI always had a mild itch for one of those Bulldogs, but never got around to getting one. Glad their CS took good care of you, as that says a lot about the company.

tenmikemikeI've owned two, both older 3" models from back in the day. I still have the stainless one and I still love it. I can't speak to the new ones because they aren't the same company they were 20+ years ago.

swampshooterI wouldn't put a lot of rounds through a Chief's Special either. The CA Bulldog only weighs 21 oz. It's not designed to be a target pistol.

TCLouisWish I could say they resolved all of the issues with my new SS version.
Finally gave up on it and just THREW it in the back of the safe.
I had planned for it to be my carry gun where I fish . . . .
Yes my fishing river has gotten where the carry piece might just be needed.
More access now and more people so the "sketchy people" factor has diminished.

Gets expensive shipping them back and forth.

TCLouisMore along the line of getting it back and it is still 50% or so reliable kind of discourages ones desire to shoot it.
One day I might get "over it" enough to take it apart and find where it is improperly fitted which I am assuming(there is that word)that the reason it randomly fails to fire is the same reason the hammer block safety bar broke off.
It was going to be my wheel carry gun.
Dang it

That is why I don't buy them any more two Junkers from them were enough for me.

Les StaleyMight I suggest a Ruger GP 100 in 5 shot 44 special? Love mine, but a bit heavier than the Charter offering. Seems bullet proof.

If one wants 44spl this should be on the top of the list.

TCLouisThe whole idea I had with the Bulldog was small and light and still a 44, unfortunately as much as I like GP100 in 357, the GP 100 is neither of those.

But it works reliably.
