Kahr 45acp
Been a 1911 fan for a long time, but I've been looking over the Kahr's in .45, the higher priced models and the CW version. I like the grip size and contour, just not the aggresive checkering. Also like the weight. Anyone with experience or opinions?

Thanks, Chuck. I was beginning to think nobody here had one.

Ya, I have the P45 model. It shoots right with my 5" Kimber .45 acp. It is light weight and has performed flawlessly with about 4,000 rnds so far. The CW model has standard rifling so cast bullets can be used. My P45 has polygonal rifling which cannot be used with cast. I used a narrow belt sander on the front of the grip and took off all the checkering as it was too sharp, and put a nicely shaped piece of skate board tape on it as all my 1911s have, and it is perfect. I took a file to the rear checkering and toned it down some. Also polished the trigger and beveled the mag well. It has become my main carry gun now. Is accurate enough that I use it for ground squirrels out to about 100 yards quite easily. I highly recommend it. I work in a gun shop, so get to handle all models of about everything out there, and the Kahr has become my go to piece when a customer wants a nice light weight/ accurate/ reliable carry piece. Cheers!

Thanks, DWright. I called Kahr and the guy I talked to just said they didn't recommend cast bullets. He didn't say anything about the different rifleing used. I really appreciate your post and I always enjoy hearing the less expensive choice of anything is what I really want.
