Adjusting the 1911A1 trigger
I have a springfield TRP w/the trigger that has the allen screw. How do I go about adjusting the weight? I want to make it a bit lighter than it came from the factory. Thanks,

I believe that allen screw is an overtravel adjustment. A good pistolsmith can adjust the weight.

I do believe your right. Thats how it was on a kimber.

You might also try going to a lighter mainspring. That helped the trigger pull on my Springfield.

Adjusting your trigger's weight is a job fo a good gunsmith. As jugger said, it's for overtravel. Wilson & others make a drop in hammer/sear kit that may get you what you want but for the cost, just have a smithy lighten it.

A good trigger is more than just the "weight". Length of travel, overtravel, smoothness, being able to reset the sear with the slightest of letoff, these all make up a trigger that "feels" right. Give it to a good pistolsmith and you will see what the difference is.
