First an official Hello, Been lurking around for quite awhile and finally joined.

Second, I am more of a rifle guy but like pistol shoot too. I recently bought a complete reloading outfit (finally!) and in it was a set of .38 S A dies. I had never heard of this until then. Is this a common round? The dies were fairly new so obviously the guy had a pistol for it. Is it on the same case as a .38 special? The guy was into CAS, is this more an "old west" round?

There are a number of 38 cartridges ; 38 Long Colt, 38 S&W, 38 S&W Special, 38 Colt Automatic, 38 Colt Super Automatic. The last two have the same dimensions but different power levels and are semi-rimmed. There are a few others but those mentioned are the most common.
