p dog shooterKnowing how to use a handgun
I have a freind that is camera buff he is 64 yoa.
The other day I noticed a sow and 4 of this year cubs on my property. Tiny little buggers can weigh more the 10 lbs.
Knowing he likes to get bear pictures I took him to the area where the den is. One can drive past it on a logging road 150 feet away.
Sure enough as we drove in there is the sow nursing the cubs. Snapped a couple of pictures the drove out of sight.
I told my freind I'll drop him off and he can sneak back set up with is telephoto lens and take pictures while I cut load of wood.
As he was getting out he said what if the bear attacks me. I reached behind me and handed him my P90 and said here.
He said what am I going to do with that. I realized he most likely never shot a handgun before.
So after taking pictures and cutting wood. I gathered up some guns. a 22 auto . 357 and my 45 and took him to the range.
I told him next time I hand you a gun I want you to kown what to do with it.
So after about a hr and a hundred mixed rounds He took my 45 auto at 10 yards and put two mags fairly fast into a 4 inch group center of target.
He said that was fun lets do again some time.
Even with just an hr of good training and the will to learn. He knows a lot more about shooting a hand gun.
Cool converted handgunner!
A steady hand for sharp photos, including follow through with a camera, isn't that different from keeping the front sight on a target. Good for him.

Norman ConquestHelping a newcomer into the fraternity is a win,win situation all around. My daughter in law fell in love with my Smith mod. 17. She shoots it every time she comes out to the ranch. On her birthday + Christmas I buy her a brick of .22's.I have a mod.19 that I will move her up to when she feels ready;starting with .38's.The point is getting them into our sport + appreciating the fun without any negativities.
